DBQ- Jacksonian Democrazy essays During his presidency in the 1820s and the 1830s, Jackson had four main goals. He tried to act as a guardian of the United States Constitution, provide political democracy, protect and promote individual liberty, and provide equality of economic opportunity. In reality, Jackson did little to guard the constitution of the United States, and only provided political democracy to the extent of free, white, landowning males. Jackson only protected individual liberty to the extent of the common man, even though jacksonians viewed themselves as the protectors of the Individual liberties of everyone. Providing an economic opportunity for everyone is the only thing the jacksonian democrats lived up to. Jackson was a plantation owner in the south, and believed in slavery. If Jackson truly was a guardian of the United States constitution, slavery should not have been a part of his life, and he should have worked to abolish it. Also, Jackson destroyed the bank of the United States, If Jackson was a strict constructionist, nowhere in the constitution does it give him the power to destroy anything that the congress created or passed. He also almost completely ignored the entire nullification crisis, which could have torn the nation apart. Although he provided political democracy to some extent, he didnt provide it to all the citizens of the United States. Women still did not have the right to vote, as neither did minority groups. In protecting and promoting individual liberty, Jackson only provided for the common man. Once again, only free white males had the rights to vote and own land. Jackson completely ignored minority groups, he did nothing to help abolish slavery and sent the Indians on the trail of tears. In providing an economic opportunity for everyone, Jackson destroyed the bank of the United States and created pet banks, which only served the purposes of the common man. Aristotle rounded off his explanation of what constituted achievement of true happiness by st ating that pleasure is not good in itself because it is incomplete according to its nature. The activities that people engage in are associated with their own distinctive pleasures. Therefore, human beings are directed and guided in nature by their choice or preference for participating in pleasant activities rather than in unpleasant activities. True happiness lies in behavior that leads to virtue, since this alone provides genuine value and not just amusement. In sum, he held that contemplation is the highest form of ethical activity because it is self-reliant, complete, and continuous. Aristotelian ethics states that every activity posses a final cause and the aim for the same good. There is no infinite regress that is associated with extrinsic goods hence there must be highest good, which all human activities aspire which he referred to as happiness. Virtues are opposed to intellectual capacity therefore, virtues of characters happen due to dispositions to act in a given way in response to some similar situations and the habits that one has which makes him behave in a certain way. Good conduct arises from habits, which can be acquired through recurring actions and corrections that makes ethics a practical discipline. Each virtue is a state that naturally seeks its own means, which is relative in its nature. The virtuous habit of any action is an intermediate state between opposed vices of deficiency and excess. In application of this theory of virtue, Aristotle asserts that flexibility is paramount as friendliness is far from deficiency than its excesses. This is because few human beings are inclined naturally to undervalue pleasure; however, it is unusual to ignore or overlook either of the extremes but to regard the virtue opposite the other vices. Aristotle’s ethics are governed at moderate rates, which have dominated the western cultures for a very long time. Ethics being a practical science focuses on human nature that works on accepting a mora l responsibility. Nevertheless, moral evaluation of action presupposes attributions of responsibilities to human agents. This does not apply to all attributions, as responsible actions must be taken voluntarily. My cell phone is my best friend. It’s my lifeline to the outside world. Carrie Underwood Like every body here my cell phone is my best friend. Thanks to martin cooper who has invented such a lovely gadget which has stored a mini world in it. and thanks to Android Inc who has given such a beautiful OS where we can download many apps. And coming to the topic now I am basically not so extrovert so that it helps me a lot in passing my time especially when I feel lonely. I never feel bad that I am staying away from home because whenever I want where ever I am I can Speak to my Parents and fight with my brother. And I can access to FB and can chat with all my friends. Where ever I go If I can see some thing beautiful I don need to worry that I am not carrying may camera with me. I have my mobile phone which can replace the camera and will give beautiful pictures. Unfortunately, although it may be a good idea for youngsters to have them, not one of them would accept a simple basic cell phone that only made calls and sent SMS would they? Although the increase in cell phone popularity may not have been expected to reach such a high level, the manufacturers have improved the cell phone enormously in a very short space of time. Manufacturers and Computer Experts have introduced the possibility of giving your phone personality by introducing cellular phone wallpapers. The internet has been a big help with obtaining wallpaper directly available online. Now, using the cell phones own camera, images can be used as wallpaper and even sent to other phones. If you prefer you can use an image you have captured previously on your own digital camera but the process takes a little longer to install. Why not add some text as well, possibly something funny to your cellular phone wallpaper, just to add a little more of your personality. Those people that have older models may not be able to do this but it really shouldn’t matter or make you feel as if you are missing out on something. Cell phone ring tones are another way of giving you phone that individual feel so even if your phone cannot change its background, you may find that the ring tone can be changed to make your model more individual. You must never forget what the cell-phone is actually for and remember that sending a SMS text does not need the most popular background or ring tone to help it on its way! Functionality does not necessitate cellular phone wallpapers; their use is only to dress up your phone and for the purpose of flaunting your cell-phones high technology features, nothing more. Try to bear in mind that not everyone is interested in your life and conversations so as a final point try to think of others when you use your phone. Many people will judge you by how you use your cell-phone as it shows what type of person you are. There are many locations where it is not suitable, or accepted that a cell phone should be used, and you will have more respect from others if you turn it off when you are in this type of situation. Good behavior can be catching and yours may lead others to do the same, be different, do not do what others do just because it is easier. It is a two-way thing, if you exhibit telephone etiquette, the people around you will do the same. Now with the fast paced life that most of us live with in juggling work and family we have entered into the mobile Internet era.
